Dear Mr. Shauers:
This letter will approve Variance Request No. 11 from Kenneth J. Lord, dated August 5, 1997, regarding the modification of the ANF Fire Protection Plan to reduce the flammable vegetation buffer from 50 to 25 feet if a welding curtain is used This approval is subject to the following conditions:
Welding curtains shall be constructed in such a manner as to completely enclose the activity area (e.g., preclude any escape of sparks).
Under Level III fire conditions all welding, cutting, and grinding activities shall occur within a welding curtain (including that done on equipment).
