Construction Highlights
The major construction of the line is complete and the line will be filled with product on 5/27/99. Full-time monitoring is no longer required and reports will only be written periodically in response to issues of concern.
Spread 1
City of Long Beach
Spread 1 work in the City of Long Beach has been completed.
City of Paramount
No Spread 1 work occurred in the City of Paramount during the shift.
City of Bellflower
A small crew worked to connect the power from the city service to the remotely operated valve on the west side of the San Gabriel River. A new transformer was set on the power pole to supply the applicants electrical box.
City of Cerritos
No work occurred in the City of Cerritos during the shift.
City of Artesia
No work occurred in the City of Artesia during the shift.
City of Norwalk
No work occurred in the City of Norwalk during the shift.
Spread 2
Los Angeles County
No work occurred in Los Angeles County during the shift.
City of Long Beach
The electrical crew continued to work on the power connections on the west side of the Los Angeles River during the shift.
City of Paramount
The final paving crew continued working on Paramount Blvd. from Madison Street to Alondra Blvd. in the City of Paramount. A paving crew continued working on the concrete work on Madison Street. A small crew constructed the concrete forms and poured the concrete curb at the end of Madison Street on the west side of the railroad tracks.
Watson Station
City of Carson
The crew at the Watson Station welded the final section to complete the line inside the station after running the cleaning pigs. Several small crews worked on the suspended piping for the vapor recovery system. The section of pipe in the yard was backfilled with native material and a small crew set the magnesium anodes at the valve inside the Watson Station.
Norwalk Station
City of Norwalk
The crew at the Norwalk Station removed the fittings for hydrostatic testing and cleaning and then welded the final joint of pipe to tie-in the system.
Industry Station
City of Industry
A small crew in the Industry Station continued working on the hand excavation for the connections to the proposed motors and valves. The crew started excavating the bases for the valve pads with the backhoe. The native clay material was removed and approved fill will be brought in as a base for the concrete pads.
