Maryam Ghadessi is a senior policy analyst. Ms. Ghadessi has worked in the Office of Ratepayer Advocates (ORA) and the Energy Division. In the Energy Division Ms. Ghadessi provided technical support to Commissioner offices and Administrative Law Judges (ALJs) on a wide range of regulatory issues pertaining to General Rate Cases (GRC), Cost of Capital, and utility finances. In addition, in the Energy Division, Ms. Ghadessi reviewed Advice Letter filings and related protests and prepared proposed Resolutions in response to utility filings of Advice Letters. In ORA Ms. Ghadessi prepared written testimony and recommendations, and testified as an expert witness before ALJs in a number of GRC and Cost of Capital proceedings.

In addition to working at the CPUC Ms. Ghadessi has been involved in teaching courses in finance and economics at various campuses of the California State University. In particular, Ms. Ghadessi has been involved in teaching an upper division course in Finance, Business Finance, at San Francisco State University over the past several years.

Prior to joining the CPUC Ms. Ghadessi held an assistant professorship position in the Department of Accounting and Finance at Monash University in Australia where she taught courses in corporate finance, asset pricing, and financial market structure at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducted research in Finance.
