The California Public Utilities Commission held public meetings on October 22, 23, and 24, 2007 in Glendale, Burbank, Calabasas, San Fernando and Van Nuys. Approximately 57 people spoke to Commissioner Timothy A. Simon and staff of their concerns about the 818 area code change alternatives. Of those expressing a preference for an overlay versus a split, 17 expressed a preference for an overlay, four expressed a preference for a split. In addition, forty of those attending submitted written comments for Commission consideration.
