Analysis of Telephone Numbers in the 310 Area Code

Utilization Report:  On March 2000, CPUC staff issued a report on the utilization of numbering resources in the 310 area code that ascertained how efficiently telecommunications carriers used numbering resources. See the List of Definitions for help with any terms.

Audit Report:  On February 2001, CPUC staff issued an audit report on the accuracy and reliability of the data submitted by the telecommunications companies regarding their utilization of numbering resources in the 310 area code. See the List of Definitions for help with any terms.

Report on Effectiveness of the 25% Contamination Level Limited Waiver Granted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC):   On June 2004, CPUC staff submitted a report evaluating the effectiveness of increasing the contamination threshold from 10% to 25% in the 310 and 909 area codes. The limited waiver prolonged the 310 and 909 area codes' lives and allowed for efficient allocation and utilization of scarce numbering resources. It also afforded the CPUC the opportunity to efficiently distribute and use scarce numbering resources as demonstrated by the substantial decrease in stranded telephone numbers within carriers' numbering resources inventories, by the significant increase in available numbering resources, and by eliminating the need to open prefixes or NXX codes unnecessarily. See the List of Definitions for help with any terms.

Analysis of Telecommunications Companies' Inventories: CPUC staff analyzed the inventory in the 310 area code by each numbering category using all of the Numbering Resource Utilization and Forecast Reports since December 2000. See the Inventory Tables and Inventory Charts.

Thousand-Block Number Pooling Data: CPUC staff presents the number of thousand-blocks Assigned, Returned, Donated, Forecasted and Available in the number pools in the 310 area code since January 2003 on a monthly basis. See the Number Pooling Table and Number Pooling Charts.

NXX Code Data: CPUC staff demonstrates the number of NXX codes Available, Assigned, and Returned in the 310 area code since October 2002 on a monthly basis. See NXX Code Chart.
