Safety and Enforcement

The CPUC's Transportation & Utility Enforcement Division works diligently to ensure that regulated services are delivered in a safe, reliable manner.

Safety and Enforcement Division has safety oversight in a number of industries, including:

  • Electric, natural gas, and telecommunications infrastructure;
  • Railroads, rail crossings, light rail transit systems, and ferries;
  • Passenger carriers, such as limousines and charter buses; and,
  • Household goods movers.

Safety and Enforcement Division also has investigative and enforcement roles to ensure consumers' rights are protected in transactions with regulated utilities, including telecommunications providers.

For more information on a particular aspect of the CPUC's robust safety and consumer protection program, see the information boxes below. For recent news and upcoming workshops and hearings, see the box at right.
