There are numerous issues the PUC can assist you with, including billing disputes, service quality problems, and marketing issues with the utilities we regulate. Generally, these utilities include privately owned utilities.Unfortunately, we cannot:
- Assist with issues involving municipal utilities - those owned by cities or counties or designated as a district, as they are not under our jurisdiction.
- Award claims for damages or to determine the existence of alleged negligence or liability for asserted damages. If you are unable to resolve these types of claims with the utility, you will need to pursue them through the civil courts.
- Assist with issues regarding Federal surcharges or taxes, city/county imposed taxes, interstate or international matters, municipal utilities, cable TV rates and services, propane rates, cellular rates, telephone equipment, directory advertising, paging companies, or Internet Service Providers, as we do not regulate these issues. But here are links to organizations that may be able to help you with these types of issues!
