Joint Inspection

 Oakland Airport Inspection - June 16, 2005, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.

  • Agencies involved – PUC, Oakland Airport Landside Operations, Alameda County Sheriff's Department, CHP
  • Number of vehicles pulled over for inspection/interview: 125

The PUC issued eight Misdemeanor Warnings to carriers for operating during permit suspension/revocation and for operating without charter-party authority, for which PUC staff will do follow-up investigations and pursue administrative actions where appropriate to impose fines. The PUC also issued 82 Notices to Correct Violation to carriers for violations of various provisions in GO 157 (no waybill, insufficient info on waybill, vehicle markings).

The Sheriff's Department issued 18 citations - 10 for mechanical violations (no front license plate, balding tires, etc); seven for no proof of insurance, no registration, or driving out of class; and one for mechanical and no license in possession.

The CHP placed two vehicles out of service.
