The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Energy Division will hold a workshop to review a staff-proposed Research, Development, and Demonstration Plan for the California Solar Initiative (CSI) on Monday, February 26, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Commission Auditorium, California Public Utilities Commission, 505 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, California.
SB1 requires the CPUC to allocate up to $50 million dollars for solar research, development, and demonstration activities under the CSI to enable widespread deployment of solar distributed generation technologies, eventually without ratepayer subsidy. Attached is a draft staff proposal for the R&D strategy, including goals, principles, guidelines, and criteria for selecting projects; timeframe; program administration, and key questions for review.
The purpose of this workshop is to allow interested parties and industry experts to respond to key questions in the staff proposal and suggest possible refinements.
Staff welcomes informal written and verbal comments on the staff draft paper by March 9; please direct them to Polly Shaw at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please cite the paper's section number and question number in comments. Note that these informal comments will not be considered on the record. Based on workshop feedback and written comments, staff will refine its proposal for a subsequent round of formal public comments. The final proposal and comments will inform a proposed decision.
