Commissioner Timothy Alan Simon utilizes his background in business, regulatory law, and public service to continue to bring affordable, reliable, and even more environmentally-friendly energy supply to California. He firmly supports investment in California's infrastructure as it is critical to California's economic future. He believes in a balanced approach allowing both a consumer and business friendly environment to foster in California, and will continue to cast his votes accordingly. As a Commissioner, some of the votes that he has cast that reflect his regulatory philosophy include:
- Promoting an economic development rate to keep businesses in California;
- Supporting the High Cost Fund B which reduced millions of dollars of surcharges collected from California communication customers;
- Promoting energy efficiency mechanisms;
- Expanding the Low Income Energy Efficiency programs;
- Providing in-language rules for telecommunication;
- Protecting consumers against back-billing practices;
- Establishing a solar incentive program for low-income homeowners; and
- Bringing broadband capability to unserved and underserved areas in California.
Commission-Assigned Proceedings
Commissioner Simon is the assigned Commissioner to a number of significant proceedings including:
- SoCalGas and SDG&E Biennial Cost Allocation Proceeding (BCAP);
- Joint PG&E, SoCalGas, and SDG&E Application to Reallocate Gas PPP costs among customer classes;
- PG&E Request for Approval of Ruby Pipeline Transportation Arrangements;
- Joint Application by PG&E and SDG&E for Approval of Their Emerging Renewable Resource Programs; and
- AB2393 which seeks to ensure availability of communications infrastructure during catastrophic events.
