Rachel Peterson is Commissioner Florio’s advisor on energy policy issues, including rate design, Energy Resource Recovery Account (ERRA) proceedings, energy efficiency, demand response, advanced energy storage, and interconnection.
Since joining the CPUC in 2011, Rachel has worked as an analyst in the CPUC’s Energy Division, focusing on policy and regulation of the interconnection of distributed generation. She also served as an interim advisor to CPUC Commissioner Carla J. Peterman. Before joining the CPUC, Rachel practiced law with Morrison & Foerster LLP and Texas RioGrande Legal Aid. She also served as executive director of Urban Ecology, a Bay Area non-profit advocating for sustainable land use and transportation policy.
Rachel holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Columbia University and a J.D. from the University of California-Berkeley Law School.
