Chief of Staff to Commissioner John Bohn

Stephen St. Marie is the Chief of Staff to Commissioner John A. Bohn of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), primarily responsible for matters related to electric service.
Mr. St. Marie joined the CPUC to work in the Commission’s Energy Division in 2003. Prior to joining the CPUC, Mr. St. Marie briefly worked at Navigant Consulting, and also worked as an independent consultant. From 1981 until 2000, Mr. St. Marie worked at NERA, an economics consulting firm, where he consulted on behalf of many different clients mostly on regulatory matters related to the energy industry. From 1977 to 1981 he served as Manager of Market Statistics at the Aluminum Association, a trade association of Aluminum-related businesses. Mr. St. Marie began his career as an economist at the Bureau of Labor Statistics in Washington, DC.
Mr. St. Marie received a BA (magna cum laude) in economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He studied at the George Washington University in Washington DC, where he was awarded a MA and a Ph.D. in economics.
