Melissa Slawson joined Commissioner Ryan’s staff as Telecommunications Advisor in May, 2010. Prior to joining Commissioner Ryan’s staff, Ms. Slawson worked in the Communications Division for more than two years as an Analyst, performing policy and legal analysis as part of the Video Franchising and Broadband Deployment Group. While in this role, Ms. Slawson worked on a variety of issues related to broadband availability, infrastructure deployment, and state video franchising.
Most recently, Ms. Slawson was involved in the CPUC’s role as State Grantee under the State Broadband Data and Development Grant Program. With her help, the CPUC was awarded $2.34 million dollars for broadband mapping and planning activities within the state.
Ms. Slawson has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Arizona, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude, and a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law. She is a licensed member of both the California and the District of Columbia Bar Associations. |
