To conduct effective oversight of the safety and reliability of California's electric and communication infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The Electric Safety and Reliability Branch (ESRB) of the Consumer Protection and Safety Division enforces Commission rules and regulations to ensure that generating asset owners and utility companies run a safe and reliable electric and communication system. Branch staff regularly conducts audits and inspections, investigates safety incident or system problem, and advises the Commission on related matters.
About ESRB
ESRB has main offices in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and a field office in Sacramento. The Branch consists of two sections. The Electric Generation Safety and Reliability Section (EGSRS) oversees generating asset owners and power plants. The Electric and Communication Facility Safety Section (ECFSS) oversees utility company of electric transmission and distribution, and communication system.
