MISSION STATEMENT

Water Division's Utility Audit, Finance and Compliance Branch

Our mission is to provide auditing, accounting, financial, and water public program advisory services to the Commission and its staff, the utilities we regulate, and the public; adhering to the highest level of professionalism.

Our goals are:

  • Perform audits and reviews in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards, including, but not limited, to independence, integrity, and objectivity; provide the Commission with attestation services, and minimize the use of outside consultants.
  • Recommend actions or write Commission orders pertaining to accounting and financial issues, pursuant to the Public Utilities Code, Commission Rules, Orders, and current market practices and conditions.
  • Advise on, recommend policy on, and monitor and evaluate water conservation and low income programs, including providing technical assistance to the Low-Income Oversight Board on water low-income programs.
  • Conduct all work functions with skill and efficiency in an unbiased and concise manner, keeping abreast of current and established principles and standards.
  • Communicate in a manner that can be easily understood, with professional courtesy and respect.
  • Initiate advice and audits that will support and assist the Commission's mission to serve the public need.
  • Solicit feedback in order to assure that multiple viewpoints are considered.
  • Always follow the course of wisdom, objectivity, and fairness in performing analysis and making recommendations.
  • Conduct regular Branch meetings and promote discussion of projects, accomplishments, and current issues facing the Branch.
  • Review workforce requirements in order to establish a reasonable and economical use of available resources.
  • Provide training and work experience so staff can grow to their professional potential.
