A Public Participation Hearing on General Topics

The purpose of this Public Participation Hearing is to hear from the public regarding any issues that fall under the CPUC’s jurisdiction. A quorum of Commissioners will be present; however, no voting or official CPUC business will occur.

 

RESOURCE FAIR

Prior to the Public Participation hearing mentioned above, the CPUC will hold a Resource Fair.

The purpose of this Resource Fair is to provide the public access to and the opportunity to learn about resources available to them in the local area, utility service providers, and different branches of the CPUC.

 

SONGS INVESTIGATION

Participation Hearings in the CPUC’s investigation into the outage of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) (I.12-10-013).

The CPUC opened this multiphase investigation to consolidate and consider issues raised by the extended outages of Units 2 and 3 at SONGS. Generally, the proceeding is focused on any warranted refunds to ratepayers or rate reductions. The Phase 2 Evidentiary Hearings on October 7-11, 2013 will consider the removal from rate base of non-useful capital assets at SONGS. Other phases of the proceeding have or will address other SONGS-related cost issues. These Public Participation Hearings are an opportunity for the CPUC to hear from the public about how the CPUC should adjust rates as a result of the non-operation of SONGS.  The presiding Administrative Law Judge will set the Agenda and determine speaking times. During the first hour of the Public Participation Hearings, local government representatives will be given priority for public comment. Members of the public who wish to address the CPUC must sign in at the Public Participation Hearings and will be called upon in the order listed on the sign-in sheet. Community-based organizations and other groups are encouraged to identify one or two speakers to represent the views of the organization’s members.

 

California LifeLine

Public Participation Hearings to discuss potential changes to the California LifeLine program, such as new discount levels; expanding the services eligible for the discount, including wireless Lifeline service, Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and other non-traditional services, and what these services might include; continued support for application of discounts to installation charges; pros and cons of pre-qualification of potential Lifeline customers; and, other topics of interest to California LifeLine subscribers or potential applicants. February 21, 2013, 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. AND 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.: As part of its investigation (I.12-10-013) into the extended outages of Units 2 and 3 at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), the CPUC will hold two Public Participation Hearings focused on Southern California Edison’s (SCE) operational and financial response to the SONGS outages. The Hearings will take place at the Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center, 1845 Park Ave., Costa Mesa.

 

 

Public Participation Hearings on Cal-Am/Water Supply Project

 

Public Participation Hearings regarding the Application of California-American Water Company for approval of the Monterey Peninsula Water Supply Project and Authorization to Recover All Present and Future Costs in Rates (A.12-04-019) will take place as follows:

Public Meetings on 415 Area Code

The 415 area code is expected to use up all the available prefixes by October 2015. To ensure that new numbers are available for customers and technology expansion, the CPUC has begun the process to introduce a new area code to the geography now served by the 415. The new area code added to the 415 will be 628.
