On Wednesday, February 23, 2005 the CPUC held a public meeting, chaired by President Peevey, on the issue of climate change. The purpose of this meeting is to begin to move "beyond energy procurement" and to begin to identify best practices for all CPUC regulated companies (electric, natural gas, telecommunications, water, and transportation). Opportunities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions related to business operations include fleet vehicle efficiency, building efficiencies, and overall reduction of energy consumption. Invited presenters include representatives from the academic, research, business, insurance, shareholder activist, and state government organizations.
