Because the importance of transmission planning issues to California’s energy policy and its consumers extends beyond state borders, the CPUC staff has devoted significant effort to monitoring and participating in western transmission planning and related energy policy activities, particularly those associated with the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) and its Transmission Expansion Planning Policy Committee (TEPPC), but also those of other organizations, including the Western Governors’ Association-affiliated Committee on Regional Electric Power Cooperation (CREPC).
The CPUC has also participated in many FERC Technical Conferences on these issues.
