Senate Bill 909 modifies Public Utilities Code Section 884 authorizing the Commission to spend up to $2,000,000 for the installation costs of high-speed broadband services which can provide digital transmission of information over the Internet at a speed of at least 384 kilobits per second, such as T-1, DS-3, and OC-192. Services must be installed on or after January 1, 2007. The program provides discounts up to 100% for the installation of eligible services. Qualifying community-based organizations are eligible for the discount.
