Quiet Zones
The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), beginning June 24, 2005, will allow local communities to establish Quiet Zones, where, based on the type and extent of safety measures employed at certain crossings, trains may be allowed to NOT sound their train horns when approaching at-grade (level with the street) rail crossings.
