Description:

Duties/Responsibilities: 

Under the general supervision of the Accounting Officer (Supervisor), incumbent will perform semi-professional accounting work in the maintenance of financial records in the accounts payable unit.   Reviews contracts, interagency agreements, and purchase orders; making progress payments to contractors on a monthly basis based on work completed by the contractor; reviews and schedules payments for consultant contracts; prepares correspondence; researches original input documents to trace, identify and correct errors; checks encumbrance allotments; maintains estimate and claims filed registers; and/or processes revolving fund checks for travel or salary advances.  The incumbent interacts with CPUC staff and state accounting control agencies.

Experience/Qualifications:   

The candidate should have knowledge of basic principles of accounting, office methods, procedures and equipment; knowledge of governmental accounting principles and procedures; ability to apply uniform accounting system and financial organization and procedures of the State of California and related laws, rules and regulations.

CALSTARS experience and at least one year of accounting experience performing duties comparable to those of an Accounting Technician in addition to the completion of at least twelve semester hours of a professional accounting curriculum is highly desirable.
