The California Public Utilities Commission conducted a surprise inspection of passenger carriers at the Oakland Airport on July 13, 2006.
Eighty-three vehicles were stopped (2/3 shuttles, 1/3 limos). The PUC issued four misdemeanor warnings for operating without a valid PUC permit. The PUC also issued 16 Notices to Correct for minor violations such as vehicle identification, no TCP display, waybills. The California Highway Patrol put five vehicles out of service for mechanical reasons, and issued 10 citations for minor infractions.
