How long can a deposit be held?

Most utilities will hold your deposit until you have established credit by paying bills on time for 12 months. After establishing credit, your deposit plus any interest earned will be applied as a credit to your account or you may request a refund from the company. If you discontinue service before credit is established your deposit plus any interest earned will be applied to your final bill and you will be refunded any credit balance.
