What types of energy-savings programs are available and how do I participate?

Low-income customers can get certain energy efficiency devices and appliances for free through the Low Income Energy Efficiency program described under Customer Programs.

Anyone can lower energy bills by installing energy efficient appliances and many of them are eligible for rebates from the utilities. The Commission’s energy efficiency guide gives more details on the benefits and rebates offered for various appliances. The guide is on the CPUC’s website.

Utilities are also required to provide incentives for customers who purchase their own electric generation systems, such as solar cells. This is referred to as Self Generation or Distributed Generation. More information is on the CPUC’s website.
