Wildfire Safety Division's Strategic Roadmap

In 2019, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) initiated a project to create a vision, strategy, and roadmap to outline its efforts to systematically reduce the risk of ignition of wildfires from utility infrastructure. The newly establish Wildfire Safety Division (WSD), which will transition to the California Natural Resources Agency in 2021 as the Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety (OEIS), will play a critical role in addressing the growing wildfire risk.

To direct its efforts, the WSD is seeking to define longer-term objectives that will support the WSD (and future OEIS), the utilities whose Wildfire Mitigation Plans (WMPs) the WSD is charged with reviewing and approving or denying, and other relevant stakeholders in working toward both near-term and longer-term solutions. To provide a strategic direction, the WSD developed a Strategic Roadmap.

Below, users can find the draft Strategic Roadmap, stakeholder comments on the draft Strategic Roadmap, submitted June 30, 2020, and the final Strategic Roadmap upon its adoption by the WSD.
