Jake McDermott joined the California Public Utilities Commission in 2019, working with the Public Advocates Office on numerous topics including rate design, DER markets and policy, and climate policy. He was a co-lead on GHG issues, and notably led the Public Advocates Office to a successful settlement agreement with stakeholders for clean energy deployment on Catalina Island. Prior to working at the Commission, Jake worked at a renewable energy markets and policy consultancy, as well as for an EV charging provider. He holds an MPP and MS from the University of California and a BA from the University of Massachusetts.
