On Friday, August 26, from 2-5 p.m., the CPUC will host a virtual workshop to discuss a Staff Proposal to Phase Out Energy Efficiency Incentives for Natural Gas Equipment.

This workshop will discuss a CPUC staff proposal which recommends an orderly transition to phasing out ratepayer-funded EE incentives for most natural gas equipment over the next 10 years. The staff proposal also considers options to redirect EE funding towards efficient gas measures and programs which reduce natural gas consumption without contributing to the installation of appliances that lock customers into a decade or more of gas utilization. The staff proposal is, in part, a response to a motion filed by the Sierra Club on January 13, 2022, in EE Rulemaking 13-11-005, calling for discontinuation of incentives for non-cost-effective natural gas appliances. Link to Application 22-02-005.

Staff Proposal - August 16, 2022 (redlined to show changes from 8/2/22 version published with ruling)
