Consideration for a Neighborhood Decarbonization Zone
Request Consideration for a Priority Neighborhood Decarbonization Zone
SB 1221 requires the CPUC to consider certain factors when defining priority neighborhood decarbonization zones, including the “availability of supportive local government or community partners”(PUC 662(a)(3)).
Local governments, community organizations, or other groups are encouraged to express their interest in participating in a neighborhood decarbonization zone by submitting a public comment here using the format described below.*
The PUC may consider information submitted by September 10, 2025 as one factor in determining initial priority neighborhood decarbonization zones by January 1, 2026, as required by SB 1221 and addressed in Long-Term Gas Planning Rulemaking R.24-09-012.
These priority zones may be updated in the future, and those who submit a public comment after September 10, 2025, may be considered in these updates.
