Public Forum

The public forums, called Public Participation Hearings, will begin with a brief overview of Cal-Am’s request; then public comments will be heard. The CPUC Administrative Law Judge assigned to this proceeding is scheduled to write a Proposed Decision in the case for CPUC Commissioner Genevieve Shiroma’s consideration within a year.

The CPUC welcomes attendance and comment on Cal-Am’s requests at these public forums, as public comments will help the CPUC reach an informed decision.

Application (A.) 19-07-004

On July 1, 2019, Cal-Am submitted an application requesting CPUC approval to increase its revenue in each of its districts statewide by $25,999,900 (or 10.6 percent) in 2021; by $9,752,500 (or 3.59 percent) in 2022; and by $10,754,500 (or 3.82 percent) in 2023. According to Cal-Am, main contributors to the rate increase include new capital investments; increased labor expenses; increased depreciation expenses; increasing administrative and general expenses; and increased operations and maintenance expenses.

Application (A.) 19-07-005

On July 2, 2019, Cal-Am filed an application requesting authorization to impose a moratorium on new or expanded water service connections in the Laguna Seca Subarea of its Monterey County District. The scope of this proceeding focuses on, among other things, withdrawal limitations set by the Seaside Groundwater Basin Adjudication in Monterey County Superior Court Case Number M66343.

While a quorum of Commissioners and/or their staff may attend, no official action will be taken on these matters at the public forums.

For those unable to attend in person, written comments may be submitted to: CPUC Public Advisor, 505 Van Ness Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102, or via email to public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov. Please refer to proceeding number A.19-07-004 or A.19-07-005 on any written or email correspondence. All public comments received are provided to the CPUC’s Commissioners and the Administrative Law Judge assigned to the proceeding.

If specialized accommodations are needed to attend, such as non-English or sign language interpreters, please contact the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office at public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov or toll free at 866-849-8390 at least three business days in advance of the public forum.
