November 01, 2021 -

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), in ongoing efforts to hold utilities accountable for safely operating their systems, is holding two virtual (remote-only) public workshops to discuss utility safety, as follows:

PG&E Enhanced Oversight Enforcement Process, Corrective Action Plan, and Enhanced Vegetation Management Public Workshop

What: A workshop to discuss and obtain public feedback on Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) progress on the implementation of its Corrective Action Plan and Enhanced Vegetation Management (EVM) work completed to date, as well as the work targeted for 2022. The Corrective Action Plan was ordered by the CPUC on April 15, 2021, when it put PG&E into the first step of an Enhanced Oversight and Enforcement Process based on PG&E’s failure to sufficiently prioritize clearing vegetation on its highest-risk power lines as part of its wildfire mitigation work in 2020. The CPUC’s Executive Director, in a letter sent today, notified PG&E that the utility will remain in step one of the Enhanced Oversight and Enforcement Process because of outstanding distribution circuits that still require enhanced vegetation management to reduce the risk of utility-ignited wildfire.  This workshop, which follows a June 2021 workshop on PG&E’s Corrective Action Plan, will cover the 14 elements of PG&E’s Corrective Action Plan, and will consist of presentations from PG&E on the status of its EVM work and provide a preview of its planned EVM work for 2022. Time will be allocated for public comment.

When: Monday, November 8, 2021, 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
