Order Instituting Rulemaking Proceeding to Consider New Approaches to Disconnections and Reconnections to Improve Energy Access and Contain Costs (R.18.07.005)

The California Public Utilities Commission will hold virtual/remote public participation hearings (PPHs) for this proceeding on August 6, 2026 at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. The PPHs are an opportunity for the public to communicate directly with the Commission regarding customer assistance programs, ways to help customers understand and timely pay their bills, and any experiences with disconnections for nonpayment. 

You can also make your voice heard in the proceeding, and read the comments of others, on our online Docket Card comment section for the proceeding.
